Hawker Hurricane XII (BE417/G-HURR)
The Hawker Hurricane is possibly the most successful British fighter of World war II,
although it has been overshadowed by the more famous Supermarine Spitfire.
Hurricane BE417 is operated by the Real Aeroplane Company and, at the
time of these photographs, is painted in the night fighter colours of an aircraft flown by
Flt. Lt. Ian Gleed of 87 Squadron during the Battle of Britain.
This series of photographs of Hawker Hurricane XII BE417/G-HURR were taken
during the Popular Flying Association Fly-in 2001 held at the
National Museums of Scotland, Museum of Flight, East Fortune
Airfield, East Lothian, Scotland on 11 August 2001.
