The Avro Lancaster is undoubtedly the most famous, and possibly the most important, British bomber of W.W.II used by the Royal Air Force.

International Air Tattoo 1989

This sequence of photographs of PA474 were taken during the International Air Tattoo 1989 held at R.A.F. Fairford, Gloucestershire, England on 23 July 1989 - a very hot day and very bright sunshine making it tricky to get exposures just right!

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight performed a fly-by following the Lancaster's solo performance. Photographs of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly-by on this day are included in a separate section.
